The Avalon Archaeology Park will open in 2019. It is part of the the Avalon Marshes Centre (Shapwick Road, Westhay, BA6 9TT) and is operated by the South West Heritage Trust. The Park will incorporate the two large buildings, erected through the Avalon Marshes Landscape Partnership Project – the Saxon longhall and the dining-room of a typical late Roman villa. In addition, it is planned to include a replica of a roundhouse based on the ones excavated from Glastonbury Lake Village. That is due to be erected over the winter of 2019/20. Earlier in 2019 it is hoped that a Viking trading ship will arrive at the centre and eventually a Mesolithic shelter may be built.
The park will be used for educational visits by school groups for most days in term time, but on other days it will be open to the general public to experience and enjoy.
