Despite the freezing weather the volunteers have continued work, turning legs for the Roman couch, finishing off the Viking tablet weaving loom, laying mosaic and painting the last panel of the mural. Thank goodness for the fire in the longhall.
Winter work
'Hands on Heritage' in the Avalon Marshes 
I turned up with a friend last Tuesday to go round. We were most disappointed to find the site not open, now only on Sundays. Is this permanent? (We had a jolly good catch-up chinwag in the café instead!)
At the moment it is just Sundays and the other days when there are guided tours. Later in the year there will be more days with special events etc. Entry price gives free re-entry for normal opening during the year.
Members of the Frome Soc. for Local Studies are looking forward to our visit on 11th April. It’s many years since we were at the Peat Moors Centre, as it was previously known when Eddie was the Warden. Your Newsletters giving the progress of the work at the Avalon Marshes in recent years have been fascinating. Last year my sister and I felt privileged to return and watch and listen to the replica musical instruments and to view the beautiful Roman Mosaic which has now been completed.
