As work continued in the Roman building to prepare for fresco week, in the Saxon longhall the oak floor of the dias received a dose of linseed oil and looks lush. Fear not, the shine will go as it dries and yes the Saxons did have linseed oil. The Vikings mixed it with pigment to paint their ships too.
