Rumours of Viking ships seen in Cornwall have reached Somerset. It is hoped that they will turn out to be peaceful traders rather than fierce raiders. In preparation for a potential visit, an area for a Viking ship to beach has been prepared next to the Saxon longhall and a new coat of yellow ochre limewash has been applied to the gable end to impress the Scandinavians. In case of trouble a band of Viking has been hired to protect the longhall. They will arrive on the 21st of July for the open day.
