Another busy week with a final plaster skim being added in the longhall for the mural (Alfred vs the Vikings), which is beginning to be sketched out, based on the slightly surreal art style of late Anglo-Saxon manuscripts – clearly part of the inspiration for Terry Gilliam animations but with landscapes that also have an oriental feel. Watch out for the ‘big toe hills’ in future posts. The front of the Roman building has been limewashed and the red lines are being reinstated and work continues on the Oseberg bed, tesserae and a roofing display.
