The gable end of the longhall takes a bit of a battering from the prevailing weather, so it was treated to a refresh, with four new coats of limewash. The last one had iron oxide pigment in it to give the warming yellow colour. Like all limewash the rain gives a darker colour to the wall, as you can see in the last image. The Quantock National Landscape volunteers and some staff also visited for a working day, helping to make tesserae and laying some more of the mosaic floor.
