We are gradually adding more small items to the longhall. The latest ones include a shuttle from Viking Dublin with pairs of horse heads at either end, a bowl decorated with chip carving from the Oseberg boat burial and a Viking bag. Lots of different designs and sizes have been found for the wooden mouths of such bags. Our version uses linen with a tablet woven strip for decoration, but a leather version could be made in the same way. Meanwhile the second brood of swallow chicks are helping to decorate the hall in their own unique way.
