Beowulf carves out a legend

Mike’s series of carvings of the story of Beowulf nears completion, with just a lick of oil required before it is proudly mounted either side of the doorway into the longhall. Elsewhere the plastering has almost finished in the Roman building, and lots of tidying up is being done before fresco week. In the longhall a locking bar for the door is being created and the eastern gable has had some repair after the limewash has blistered in places – a problem that only seems to affaect the gable ends. Another treat was Cassie showing the fabulous Saxon seax (knike) that she has made.
