This week was all about eggs. Egg tempera (egg yolk, water and pigment) was used for the fake marbling panels, as they had dried out too far for the lime water mix used for fresco secco on semi-dry plaster. The yolk liquid had to be separated from the yolk sack, which was tricky. Meanwhile, to make the room more garish and less modern in taste, a Roman ‘fried egg’ design was done on 2 panels. Definitely lowered the tone. Next week Diana!
