The stone tile roofing of the porch of the Roman building has finally been completed and looks fabulous. Its made from two different shades of limestone (blue and cream colour) supplied by the quarry at Hadspen, pre-cut to a Roman shape which produces a pleasing diamonds pattern. It represents a lot of work from the volunteers, especially Steve and Nic and Neil. The join with the wall is protected by a strip of mortar. Mike’s ‘angry birds’ carving is now installed (by Terry) in the longhall, work on the Viking bed continues by Mike, Kath, Rod and Alastair and the Saxon Art Collective are beginning to finalise plans for the mural scenes, as the second of the four panels is prepped ready for painting. Experiments with mosaic laying continue and the mosaic pattern is laid out on the floor. Busy times.
