Mike has finished his final carving to complete the arch formed by the larger upright posts in the longhall. The beastly images are based on marginal details from an early 9th century AD manuscript made in Aachen (modern Germany), called the Harley Golden Gospels (now in the British Library). It was probably made for the Emperor Charlemagne – nothing is too good for our longhall.
